New releases from SXSW 2017 & Chuck Berry Tribute

SXSW (South By Southwest), the largest Pop/Rock music-showcase festival in the world, is held annually over the course of 6 days during the March Spring break in Austin Texas. I attended the 2017 SXSW Festival in Austin Texas for Radio FRO in March. This show features new material from some of my favorite performers / bands that I got to see at SXSW: Spoon, The New pornagraphers, Hippo Campus and Kate Nash as well as a short Chuck berry tribute.

Women’s Protest Pop

This edition of Potluck will be a “Women Only” playlist honoring International Women’s Day that’s celebrated in March. The show contains over 50 minutes of uninterrupted music. Women singing out against sexual, racial, and political oppression. Many of the songs were specifically produced as a protest against the Donald Trump regime. There are no comments - the songs (and the women) speak for themselves.

Preview SXSW Music Festival 2017 & more anti Donald Trump songs!

Next month I’ll be covering the week-long SXSW Music Festival held in Austin Texas for the sixth consecutive year. The first part of this show is a preview of this year’s up-coming Festival. Following that segment, I’ll be bringing you even more songs from 1000 Days, 1000 songs project playlist. Songs written and recorded by musicians for a Trump-free America.

My Favorite 2016 Album

The end of the year is fast approaching - so it’s time to share with you my pick for the best Album of the year. So what is my “lieblings” Album for 2016? Check out the show this Thursday at 8:00 PM and hear for yourself.

New releases & President Donald „pussy grabbing“ Trump:...

In this edition of Potluck I’ll be bringing you new releases from Dawa, Ezra Furman, Regina Spektor, Honeyblood, and the Sleaford Mods As well as a tip of the hat for Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and some musical comments on the craziness in the USA (what would Frank Zappa say about the American presidential election?).

Woody Guthrie

Because of illness this show is a repeat from July 2012.

Highlights Edinburgh International Festival

I spent the last 10 days of August at the Edinburgh International Festival. The Edinburgh International Festival offers three weeks of world-class music, theatre, opera and dance and in the last 2 years it has be offering more upscale popular music as well. In this show you’ll be hearing music from King Creosote, Youssou N’Dour, Alan Cumming, Anohni, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Young Fathers…

All Women Voices New Material Playlist

This August edition of Potluck focuses on 2016 releases from women performers. The playlist includes 14 songs released this year from new and established women artists.

Summer Nostalgia

Some of my favorite summer pop-rock songs along with highlights from long-gone summer festival days. Playlist includes: Janice Joplin, Fairport Convention, The Kinks, The Difters, The Who, Sly & The Family Stone and many others.

Day of the Dead – Grateful Dead Tribute LP

This recently released 59-track, six hour box set was curated by the brothers Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National and is a real gem. The 3 disc LP was several years in the making. The crème de la crème from the pop-indie scene covers practically all the Dead hits. For this show I put together a playlist of 10 songs from this epic compilation. All together making up over 55 minutes of uninterrupted music.

More from SXSW 2016 (Austin Texas) & a tribute to Prince

In this edition of Potluck I’ll be wrapping up my report on the South By SouthWest music festival that attended for Radio FRO in March. Featuring music from Peaches, Jake Bugg, Loretta Lynn, Dion and the Estrons as well as short tribute to Prince.

2016 SXSW Music Festival

In March I attended the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival for Radio FRO. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, SXSW is the largest Pop/Rock music showcase festival in the world. The festival takes place over the course of 5 days during the March spring break in Austin, Texas. I had a choice of some 2,000 plus bands, representing over 50 countries There I got to see almost 40 concerts. Most of these in small venues and again Austin has earned its title as the live music capital of the world. In this show you’ll be hearing tracks from the 15 bands that impressed me the most.
