Reduce your use

Eco-villages and things made of trash - Is this utopia? Not at all: Jerneja Zavec seeked for traces of sustainable lifestyles in Slovenia - and found them.

Problems of consumption and production are still increasing. The question is: where is the limit to this development? Lately, it has become more and more important to save the environment and some people are already in the process of creating alternative life-styles. One example of an environmentally-friendly lifestyle is reducing our use in sense of not buying things, which are not necessary. Some people even create new things made out of trash or unused things, that are still worth to used.
Smetumet is a  cultural and ecological fellowship in Ljubljana, that points in this direction. It prepares various projects on how to transform trash into something useful as Urša Štrukelj, a member of Smetumet, explains in an Interview for this radio show. On the other hand, so-called Eco Villages promote an even bigger change of life-style,  where its inhabitants are completely dedicated to natural principles. Domen Zupan is active in the slovenian Eco-village Institute. Both interview partners inform about alternatives to consumption, about what can we do for nature in daily life and at the same time this radio piece is also a critique of capitalism. A radio show by Jerneja Zavec, currently european volunteer at radio FRO.
